Interactive DNS Query is a free utility that has been specially designed to give website operators the opportunity to execute queries of DNS records, and check the results. The program's graphical user interface is quite straightforward and easy to use.
To begin working with the program, we just enter a DNS server address, and then select the type of query from the list. These are the type values available: A, WILDCARD, SOA, NS, MD, CNAME, MB, MR, NULL, WKS, PTR, HINFO, MINFO, MX, and TXT. Next, we type the name of the host in the appropriate box and click on the "Go" button. Automatically, the program will pop up a window with the DNS Reply. We are able to view the host, type value, class, and the results (filed, type, name, and data). We can then choose to close that window or print the results. We can select to open the online help guide from the program's folder in our "Start" menu.
This program is quite small so it takes no time to download and install. This program is part of a more powerful shareware program by the same developer called DNS Watcher. Interactive DNS Query runs under Windows XP, 2000, ME, NT, 98, and 95 operating systems.
